Taxes, invoices and who the seller is
Buyers pay your own payment account directly — Stripe, or MercadoPago in Argentina — which makes you the seller of record for everything you sell here. We are software you rent, not a shop you sell through.
That has one real consequence: sales tax and VAT are your responsibility, not ours. If you sell through Stripe, Stripe Tax can calculate and collect them on your account when you enable it.
This is the trade for keeping 100% of the price. Platforms that act as merchant of record — Gumroad and Payhip, for example — handle tax for you and charge a percentage of every sale for doing it. Neither model is better in the abstract; it depends on how much you sell and how much you hate paperwork.
Invoices and receipts for your buyers come from your own payment account. The invoice for your subscription to us comes from ours, through the billing portal.
